The Pureland Foundation was founded by Bruno Wang, a philanthropist and enthusiastic cultural patron of the Arts, Music and Charities.

Aside from his business ventures and investment interests in media and property, he has supported and co-produced award-winning theatrical productions both in London’s West End and on Broadway. Indeed, in the UK, all productions supported by the company have racked up over one hundred Olivier Award nominations, with 29 wins. He has also been a founding Patron of Hofesh Shechter Company, a boundary-breaking company focused on contemporary dance, and a member of The Old Vic Theatre Artistic Director’s Circle.

He was also a Trustee of the professional symphony orchestra in residence at the University of Oxford, The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and has previously been a Principal Patron of Opera Rara, a company specialised in the recording and performing of forgotten operatic repertoire based in London. Indeed, as former Patron of both the British Museum and The Wallace Collection, Bruno Wang was also a Trustee of The China Art Foundation and served on the Council of the Serpentine Gallery and the Louvre Museum.

Such is Bruno Wang’s belief in the power of the arts that he is the benefactor of several charities which aim to bring about positive change for young people through music and arts education. He supported, for example, a non-profit organisation with a focus on ancient and contemporary earth-based spiritual practices from around the world named the Belladonna Sanctuary. He continues to contribute to the growth of their renowned programme, Fairy Camp which is an eco-magical school of the arts for children.

The Pureland Foundation’s driving purpose was to raise awareness as well as inspire change and promote social integration. This is why Pureland was founded, to reflect Bruno Wang’s interests in mediation, holistic wellbeing, art and music. It supports institutions, charities and programmes that capitalise on the power of art and music through charities that promote social, spiritual and emotional wellness. In the past, the Foundation has hosted regular events through the Pureland Series at China Exchange, inviting inspirational speakers and like-minded people to share their insights and vision of a world grounded in compassion, empowerment, creativity and spirituality.
